Auqib Rasool

I am Auqib Rasool,22 years old,from Kreeri,a beautiful village located equi-distant from Baramulla and Gulmarg.A  place rich in art and culture. A place of great Islamic saint and scholar Syed Haji Muhammad Murad Bukhari (R.A) and great Kashmiri poets like Sanaullah Kreeri and Khamosh Kreeri.I am currently pursuing my MBA (integrated) degree from University Of Kashmir.I am a self-taught artist,with grip on Persian and Arabic calligraphy,sketching,painting,modern English calligraphy,cartooning and digital illustrations.After 10+2,I wanted to be a doctor.But I failed.I was shattered.I felt like nothing.I suffered a 2 year long psychological trauma.Then,art came to my rescue.I started to utilize what I was born with- a pair of good hands.Now,I am grateful.Allah is the best of planners.If I had been selected for MBBS,I would’ve failed to realize the better side in me.
I recently won the Payam-i-Ramazan Islamic Calligraphy Competition organised by Dean Students Welfare,University of Kashmir.Art gives me immense pleasure.It is the weapon that helped me survive the battle within me.
